We encourage our students to improve themselves and acquire the necessary skills and manners to become young global leaders with a fine Japanese spirit.

Our school has the following two distinct educational goals:

1. To foster students with pride in their heritage, based on a deep understanding of their tradition and culture, and its underlying philosophies and moral code.
2. To foster students with high level language skills and the ability to succeed in the global arena, establishing meaningful international relationships using their deep understanding of other cultures.

Okayama Gakugeikan High School, Japan (OGHS)

Established in 1960, our school currently has about 1300 students. We boast a high university passing rate and provide education aimed at developing students into global leaders who will be able to play major roles on the international stage. We are a pioneer of English education at Japanese high schools, setting up the first English course among private secondary schools in Japan.
We have been selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as a “DX High School,” a school that enhances inquiry-based learning across the humanities and sciences through the use of ICT.
Our students devote themselves to both studies and sports. There are many club activities with outstanding achievement on a national level.

【1】 Okayama Gakugeikan Senior High School Program (3 years graduation)

Preparatory program for university entrance in Japan
(Those who graduated from junior high school (9 years of education) 15 years old and over)

• Aiming to enter university in Japan
• Take courses in accordance with Japanese high school curriculum in three years, earn regular credits and qualification for graduation
  • Spend a school life also with Japanese people, not just for international students
  • Participate in various school events other than classes (club activities, sports festivals, school festivals, etc.)
  • Japanese supplementary lessons by expert teachers depending on the level of Japanese language.
  • Those with excellent grades can also take the university-recommended entrance examination from our school.
  • We assist students in preparing for Japanese proficiency tests such as JLPT and EJU, English proficiency tests like TOEFL and TOEIC, interviews and essays, as well as provide career guidance.
  • Those with excellent grades can also take the university exam for candidates recommended by high school principals
• This program requires a student visa for Japan

【2】 Okayama Gakugeikan High School Short-term Program (91 days～1 year)

(Those who graduated from junior high school (9 years of education) 15 years old and over)

• Stay in Japan for 91 days or more (approximately a year)
• Study subjects according to Japanese high school curriculum
• Spend a school life also with Japanese people, not just for international students
• Participate in various school events other than classes (club activities, sports festivals, school festivals, etc.)
• Earning higher level of Japanese is possible with Japanese supplementary lessons by expert teachers
• We assist students in preparing for JLPT
• You can learn a wide range of Japanese culture and customs
• This program requires a student visa for Japan

【3】Okayama Gakugeikan High School Experience Program (1 day ～ 90 days)

(For junior high school students and above)

• Stay in Japan maximum 90 days.
• Experience Japanese school life
• Become familiar with Japanese and learn a wide range of Japanese culture and customs
• Exchange class with Japanese students, class experience, and club activity experience
• School trips from overseas are also accepted (1 day visit is acceptable)
• If you are a junior high school student under 14 years old, you need to be accompanied by a guardian
• A Temporary Visitor Visa is required in some cases.

OKAYAMA GAKUGEIKAN LANGUAGE SCHOOL　 (GLS)

This school opened in April 2012 and is a Japanese language school for students (over 18 years old) who have graduated from high school in a foreign country.
Because the school is located on the grounds of a high school, the library, cafeteria, and infirmary are shared with Japanese students, providing an ideal environment for language learning where students always have the opportunity to interact with Japanese people.
In addition, our teachers and staff, who have extensive international and teaching experience, will kindly support students not only in their studies, but also in their daily lives in Japan. We will also help students learn Japanese culture and manners.
We support students in their pursuit of higher education and employment in Japan.
At this school, you will have a fulfilling study abroad experience where you can “be who you want to be!”.

*We assist students in preparing for Japanese proficiency tests such as JLPT and EJU, interviews and essays, as well as provide career guidance.

OKAYAMA GAKUGEIKAN LANGUAGE SCHOOL

International Education Center

It has been over 30 years since the Okayama Gakugeikan started full-scale international exchange business. During that time, we have formed partnerships with high schools and educational institutions in Australia, Canada, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Cambodia, India, United States, Malaysia, South Korea, Finland, Indonesia, etc., and "The International Education Center" is functioning as a hub for establishing networks with many countries. We accept international students who will be a bridge between Japan and the world, we improve the living environment and Japanese language education environment in Japan, support the advancement to Japanese universities, and actively coordinate the study abroad of our students. In addition, we provide program that international students visit local elementary schools to broaden the circle of international exchange with the local community.
